This island in the Visayas region in the Philippines is one of my favorite weekend getaways from Bohol. It’s just two hours away by ferry, and I always have great experiences there.
If you love nature and an island vibe. Give Siquijor Island a try!
Here are my top favorite things to do in Siquijor, Philippines
1. Watch the Sunset at Paliton Beach
FREE
Siquijor Island is called the Island of Fire for a reason. This place almost always delivers beautiful orange sunsets like the island is on fire.

One of the best places to watch the sunset is at Paliton Beach or around the San Juan side of the Island.
The best thing is, there are plenty of beautiful resorts on this side like this resort.

2. Freedive or Snorkel at Tulapos Marine Sanctuary
Environmental Fee: 100 PHP
Guide Fee: 250 PHP for two people
This place is famous for the School of Barracudas. It’s not there all the time so we didn’t see that when we went there for freediving.
We still saw lots of interesting things though.

A black-tipped reef shark, different schools of fish, and giant clams!
It’s in the wild, what you see is what you get and that’s the beauty in it.
3. Get lost finding a hidden waterfall called Cangbangag Falls
FREE
This hidden waterfall is called the “hidden waterfall” because you can get lost trying to find it – and we did.
After going around on a motorbike and asking locals for directions, we followed a footpath, hoping it was the right way.

It was, but we probably wouldn’t have found the right trail if it was not for a local passing by. He pointed us to another path that was hidden by bushes.

You can also check out this not-so-hidden Lugnason Falls which is less crowded than the Cambugahay Falls. This one has a small entrance fee and someone can guide you going there for a tip.

4. Make friends with the locals
I have to say, the people on this island are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met.
Being open to new experiences has led me to some amazing adventures here.

Like crashing a birthday party then singing on a karaoke or an impromptu drinking session and grilling by the beach with new-found friends.
I’ve met wonderful locals and travelers alike, and had so much fun!
5. Friday Party at JJ’s Backpackers
Party by the beach with live local bands! This place has such a great vibe.
I don’t recommend the cocktails, so go straight with beer or hard liquor (like tequila). lol!

6. Go around the island on a motorbike
The best way to go around the island is via motorbike – you can cover almost everything in a day.
You’ll be surprised where the roads take you, especially the unpaved ones. We passed by this view on our way to a waterfall.

7. Jump off Pitogo Cliff
If jumping off heights is your thing, try this cliff (safest during a high tide)!
If you don’t want to jump that high (I didn’t), you can go down the cliff via the stairs. It’s really deep so it’s best for people who know how to swim.
There’s a small fee when entering this area.
