EXODUS – Bohol Fashion Forward

I became glamorous for a night!

I love dressing up and wearing high heels BUT my limited social life ๐Ÿ˜‚ and home-based work does not provide me much opportunity to do so ๐Ÿค”. Unless I wait for weddings or debut which is scarce now in my social circle๐Ÿ˜‚ (pagminyo na tawn mo).

Fortunately, I got a chance to dress up and attend to one of the most glamorous events in 2019 – a fashion show showcasing 12 of the top designers in Bohol.

It was an amazing event and I can’t help fantasize to wearing one of those couture someday!

The event EXODUS – Bohol Fashion Forward was organized by Bohol Designers Circle. A fashion show to raise funds for the benefit of fellow Boholanos in iSuppor+ (HIV Advocates).

It was held at Bohol Cultural Center, Tagbilaran City last 21st of Dec 2019 and as they promised, it was a CLASH of art, expression and glamour!

Here are some of the photos of photographer Ernie Crescencio (unofficial & unedited):

The 12 designers showcased their collection in different themes. And what a shocker some of the couture was!

Here are the designers and the highlights to their ramp;

Swipe right to see some of their masterpieces ๐Ÿ‘‰

BEBEI TAGOCTOC

“An icon in the make-up and hair-styling industry who serves A-list clients in Bohol. She organized a prominent group of gay community and the brain behind Miss Gay Sandugo. She is the mother of the LGBTq+ community in Bohol.

Her patriotism is showcased in her creations that feature the imprints of Filipiniana Fashion. Her timeless pieces never fail to attract women of different generations.” – Bohol Designer’s Circle

AILEEN PASAGAD

“She is the owner and designer of Aileen Pasagad Couture that was established since 2010. She is a self-taught designer and former politician with a brief period of learning in the Fashion Institute of the Philippines- Cebu Branch.

She has always been passionate about designing and had her first gown when her daughter joined a school competition way back 2010. Since then, she has been slowly building her craft by researching, reading and getting inspiration from her fellow designers. She creates all kinds of designs upon demand but her signature styles are serpentina gowns and jumpsuits with a flair that you’ll only discover when you wear the final piece. – Bohol Designer’s Circle

LA’DOIE AQUINO

“La’doie… is a Professional Medical Representative. He is the current President of the Association of Medical Representatives in Bohol (AMREB). His profound passion to fashion began when he was at the age of 18. …In 2009, La’doie brought honor to Southern Leyte, as he joined One Visayas , One Region Fashion Show in Cebu International Convention Center, showcasing his Abaca creations.

La’doie strongly upholds such values of excellence in bringing originality and Filipino craftsmanship to the fashion industry through Abaca. In 2017, he opened La’ Doie Couture, a trendy fashion boutique.” – Bohol Designer’s Circle

KIM VILLAMOR

“The creative designer behind KIM VILLAMOR ATELIER. Her brand was established since 2009. She studied garment construction at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines. She is the current president of Bohol Designers Circle.

She describes her aesthetics as โ€œminimalist opulence.โ€ She always listen to her client’s requirements which makes her different from the others. As a designer, She gets into the shoes of people she is designing for. She should feel what they wish & what they want and she always balance it with her design aesthetics. When a client is done with what they require her to do, she will be able to dedicate enough time and passion to get something really brilliant from it.” – Bohol Designer’s Circle

NIKKI SIMPORIOS

“A registered nurse, a licensed teacher, and a former fashion designer in Doha, Qatar, now based in Bohol.

His design aesthetics is diverge and imminent on his mood that runs from avant garde, haute couture and to streetwear style. He deifies the odd – a sui generis.” – Bohol Designer’s Circle

ROSE PAUL SILHOUETTE

“Rose and Paul Ranara, the designer duo behind Rose Paul Silhouette … both have MA and PhD degrees, but as fate would have it, their insatiable passion for fashion led them into fashion design. In 2017, they subsequently took a fairly significant detour away from teaching and established their eponymous fashion label in Tagbilaran…

The duo describes their aesthetics as romantic, featuring modern silhouettes and whimsical infusions of motifs such as ruffles, lace, feathers, blossoming 3D florals and exaggerated bow accents. The feminine, sensual, and flirty touches of soft and flowing fabrics are their collectionโ€™s staple as a way to adapt the romantic fashion style…Their collection is rich with floor-sweeping numbers, with designs that resonate a modern and edgy Bohol, but also elegant and glamorous.” – Bohol Designer’s Circle

CHRISTIAN BUSTRILLOS

“He started to have passion for fashion design since Dec 2012 and had accepted clients from prominent local women since 2016. He studied basic pattern making at Fashion Institute of the Philippines. His designs were also worn in countries like Canada, Australia and USA. He also runs his own business in couture.

His aesthetics is more of the simple and plain but classy and sometimes weird and out of the blue. Heโ€™s a fan of the designs of Zac Posen, Cristobal Balenciaga and Cary Santiago. He likes dresses that have no beads and stones yet have a great sculpture and sophisticated fabric manipulation. He is not a fan of the glittery dresses with laces and stones which is easily sold in the market. He adores a dress that has a great twist in it; something that can be revolutionary.” – Bohol Designer’s Circle

TRACY REMOLADOR TORRES

“With almost 2 decades in the beauty and fashion scene, (the late) Tracy Remolador Torres is a name renowned in major beauty pageants and events because he is a maker and producer of beauty queens not only here in Bohol but in beyond. He started as a humble hair and make up artist until his passion for beauty and aesthetics drove him into waters. Then he ventured into fashion design, beauty pageants gown has been the nucleus of his art, until his natural flexibility and creativity pushed him into bridal and other events…

Tracy’s aesthetics is a sumptuous mix of timeless elegance and a sprinkle of diva glam as what is expected from a beauty queen, metallic fabrics combined with luscious lace and opulent bead works is Tracy definition of elegance and glamour…Every design speaks of the emotions and hidden character of a woman that does not meet the eye: Beauty, elegance, and glamour. This is the experience of every lady who wear a Tracy Torres masterpiece and creations.” – Bohol Designer’s Circle

RYAN SADUDAQUIL

“The creative director of RS Fashion Shop. A rising name made out from hard work, patience and perseverance. Started from humble beginnings in the little town of Garcia Hernandez, now a major staple in the bridal and pageant industry of Bohol.

Her pieces are outputs of passion. Whimsical and strongly feminine are how a Ryan Sadudaquil creation can be described.” – Bohol Designer’s Circle

CHRISTIAN RELATOR

“A young couturier who began his spotlight in the fashion scene at an early age of 16. Started from sketching his fantasies and visions from reams and reams of paper until he was able to hone his skills into rendering them into reality. Being the grand winner of the search for Bohol Young Designers 2014 was a major breakthrough for this young creative.

It paved way to a lot of opportunities, far beyond his imagination. His clientele grew not only locally but also abroad reaching from the Philippines to Vancouver, California, Illinois, Edmonton, New York and even far beyond the Marianas. He is the second Boholano evening gown designer to showcase in the history of the prestigious Queen Philippines Pageant. EJ RELAMPAGOS

“…He always want to take Bohol fashion to another level every time, so he authored the creation of Bohol Designers Circle and Tagbilaran Fashion Week. His goal is to see Boholano designers shine in the real world of haute couture in New York, Milan, Paris, Tokyo or London.

He would like to believe he has an immaculate taste and a penchant for the finer things in life. He has been to the world’s fashion capitals and he has now defined a new standard of luxury, his brand becoming synonymous with femininity, elegance and sophistication. The opulent places where he spent most of his time when he travels helped shape the aesthetic that would hopefully become one of the most significant luxury Boholano brands of all time…” – Bohol Designer’s Circle

…Charlow sees Aesthetics to be forward thinking and traveling beyond what’s accepted as the status quo. Incorporating modern, unusual accessories but elegant with clothes matched with hats, belts or shoes in the most unusual shapes, this innovator views aesthetics as a mixture between fashion and art…” – Bohol Designer’s Circle

The collections were amazing and some were show stoppers with elaborate designs! But my TOP 3 based on my personal aesthetic (which is pretty black & dark ๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ–ค ๐Ÿ˜… ) are Nikki Simporios, Christian Bustrillos and Ej Relampagos’ collection. ๐Ÿ˜

The event ended late but I had fun with one of my most glamorous friend Joyce Bella of Events Planner Philippines. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I’m definitely looking forward to these designers’ next events and new collections! Who are your favorite designers so far?

Thank you for reading!
